Dream S Ultrasonic Welding Machine Assessed for CE Marking

Dongguan, Guangdong — The Dream S servo ultrasonic plastic welding machine from Guangdong Linqi Ultrasonic Co., Ltd. (LINQISONIC) has completed conformity assessment against EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Testing was carried out by BST Testing (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. to EN 60204-1:2018 and EN ISO 12100:2010, with a pass result. The certificate of compliance is numbered XDZG428243231061913AC, with corresponding test report XDZG428243231061913AR.

What CE marking is, and what it is not

CE marking is often read as a pass certificate. It is not. It is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product conforms to the applicable EU directives. For the great majority of machinery covered by the Machinery Directive, the manufacturer carries out the conformity assessment and signs the declaration itself; a report and certificate from a third-party test house serve as the technical evidence behind that declaration.

That distinction determines where responsibility sits. The moment the CE mark is applied, the manufacturer stands behind the safety of that product within the EU and must retain the complete technical file for inspection. It is not a matter of buying a piece of paper.

What the two standards actually cover

EN ISO 12100:2010 — Safety of machinery, general principles for design, risk assessment and risk reduction. This is the top-level machinery safety standard. It requires the manufacturer to systematically identify the hazards a machine may present across its whole life cycle, assess the risk, and then reduce it in a defined order: inherently safe design, then safeguarding, then information for use.

For an ultrasonic welder the hazards to be identified typically include crushing during the horn's down-stroke, trap points between horn and anvil, noise from the transducer in operation, unexpected start-up during tooling changes, and uncontrolled motion if the pneumatic or servo drive fails.

EN 60204-1:2018 — Safety of machinery, electrical equipment of machines, Part 1: General requirements. This covers the machine's entire electrical system: supply incomer and isolation, protective bonding and equipotential bonding, overcurrent and overload protection, electrical safety of control circuits, the category and implementation of emergency stop, conductor identification and wiring practice, and the verification tests that must be completed before delivery.

Ultrasonic equipment presents a particular case here. The generator operates at high frequency and high voltage, so its electrical protection, earth continuity and insulation requirements have to be verified item by item against the standard rather than treated like ordinary low-voltage equipment.

What this means for customers exporting to the EU

Once equipment is put into service inside the EU, the occupational safety authority in the end user's country may require sight of the declaration of conformity and the technical file. Where the machine is installed in a customer's production line, it may also fall within that customer's own safety assessment process.

In other words, this documentation is not a procurement formality. It is one of the preconditions for the equipment to be lawfully put into service in the EU. Customers planning deliveries to European sites are advised to agree the required conformity documentation at the order stage.
